Play Golf Solitaire Online Free
Golf is the quick solitaire: thirty-five cards face up in seven columns, one card on the foundation, and every play is a card one rank higher or lower than the last. Chain as long a run as you can, turn the next stock card when you run dry, and clear every column to win. Free in your browser, a deal takes a few minutes, and every table has chat so friends can watch. No download and no account.

How to play Golf Solitaire
- Seven columns of five cards each, all face up. One card starts the foundation; the other sixteen are the stock.
- Play the top card of any column onto the foundation if it is ONE rank higher or ONE rank lower than the foundation card. Suit does not matter. Tap a lit card to play it.
- Keep going: each card played becomes the new foundation card, so a run like 7, 8, 9, 8, 7 is five plays in a row.
- Aces are low and nothing wraps: no ace on a king or king on an ace. A queen may go on a king.
- When nothing plays, tap the stock to turn its next card onto the foundation and start a new run from it. There is one pass through the stock.
- Clear all thirty-five column cards to win. Score: one point for each card cleared, and on a win one more for every stock card left over.
- When the stock is empty and nothing plays, the deal is over. Play Again deals a fresh one on the same seat.
Golf Solitaire strategy
The basics that turn knowing the rules into winning games โ what to do first, what to keep, what to avoid.
- Before every play, look at what the NEXT card would be: playing a 6 on a 7 is only good if there is a 5 or a 7 waiting on another column.
- Chain as long as you can before touching the stock. Every stock card you save is a fresh start you will need later.
- Dig into the columns with cards you cannot reach otherwise: four of a rank buried under one column can end a deal.
- Kings are awkward because only a queen follows them; clear a king when a queen is on top of another column, not before.
- When two cards both play, take the one that uncovers the more useful card underneath.
Golf Solitaire FAQ
- Why is it called Golf?
- Because the old way of scoring it counted the cards you could not clear, and like golf the low score won. Here the score counts the cards you did clear, plus a bonus for every stock card left over on a win.
- Does suit matter?
- No. Only rank: a card goes on the foundation if it is one higher or one lower than the card there, whatever the suit.
- Can I go from a king to an ace?
- No, nothing wraps round the corner. A queen can go on a king, though, so a king is not a dead end.
- Can every deal be won?
- No, far from it; Golf is a game of long odds and short deals. A table that runs out of plays ends on its own, and Play Again deals the next one.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Type a name and play โ no signup, no download, nothing to install. Making an account is optional and only exists to keep your stats, nickname and preferences across devices.
- Is it really free?
- Yes, all of it. Every game on Board Game Universe is free to play, with no premium tier holding anything back.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. It runs in a mobile browser on phones and tablets as well as on a desktop โ there is no app to download.
- How do I play with my friends?
- Start a table and send your friends the link. They open it, type a name, and sit down. Moves and table chat happen in real time.
- Can I play against the computer?
- Yes. Add a bot to any table and it plays a proper game โ useful for filling a seat while you wait for a fourth.
